Fox Covert Club
After-school clubs

"My child has enjoyed the sessions enormously . . . she always goes enthusiastically and returns home exhausted and exuberant." (Helen Mitchel, South Morningside parent)

I have been running highly successful after-school wildlife clubs in schools around edinburgh for a number of years in schools such as East Craigs, Bruntsfield and South Morninside primaries.

Having recently set up BigWorld, I am really excited to be setting up a new club with Fox Covert Primary School. For details of the Fox Covert club, click here/ I am also actively seeking new schools to work with, so if you have a suggestion please do contact me/

General description

  • Afterschool clubs run once a week for 2 hours, with a cost to parents of £6 per session.
  • We visit local wild places each week, travelling by foot or public transport, and engage in a range of activities and games - from wildlife watches and following tracks and trails, to natural arts and crafts, shelter-buildling, survival skills and finding 'food for free'.
  • The maximum number of members is sixteen.
  • Each session is run by a level 3-qualified Forest School leader, supported by a fully trained assistant; the staffing ratio is always at least 1 adult to 8 children.
  • All BigWorld staff have current enhanced disclosures, and all clubs are fully insured and operate according to best current practice in all aspects of childcare and outdoor activities. Please contact me for a copy of my current handbook of procedures.
  • In the event that weather conditions present a health and safety risk, clubs run within the school building.
